Cars crash off of bridges and the people inside just walk away? Elevators crash and the person inside doesn't die? Who makes this stuff up, anyway? Do they watch the finished product and say: "YEAH. THAT'S GREAT!!!"?

You mean it's not real? Wow. You must be new to movies. I think maybe documentaries might be better for you. And never watch any Hollywood blockbuster if this is too unrealistic for you. This movie is very grounded compared to those big cg movies

Absurd is one way to describe this film. Risible is another.
The lift (elevator) scene at the end where the lift plummets down couldn't happen. There is a mechanism installed on all lifts to prevent such an eventuality. How many Lift plunges 20 storeys killing 12 occupants stories have you read in the newspapers?
