Is it explained better in the comic book? Superman heard they arrythmia in his heart and he used his x-ray vision. Superman knew for certain, or so it seems that bruces heart was giving out. How did he survive?

He took something that made his vital signs slow down to give the illusion of death. It was in the pill he took before his fight with Superman.
