This seemed so random and out of place like it was just added in at the actors request to showcase himself. It was surreal and a sign the show is loosing the plot by the third season.

Me too. Also acoustic Diamonds. I thought it was lovely but I'm not a Rhianna fan. In fact I had to do some googling after to find out what the song was :-/ I live in a cave it seems.

I am tired of charrin' my ass on your back burner.

I thought it was one of the highlights of the season actually. It was very moving.

I thought he was a good singer but agree it was added to help the actor. He is far better than the lead Josh anyway and his acting of this awkward but struggling guy is superb.

I think it showed very well the difference in what he could be and what he dares to be. It was not out of character but rather out of his character's character. I thought it was moving and I am allergic to kitsch.
