Are any of the fatties from the North?

i.e. or other civilized parts of the country? And I don't mean the wild gold digging northwesterners. We've seen the hillbillies from Oregon and Washington.

It seems like [nearly] have these banjo twanging redneck accents, or some kind of cornpone country thing, or else Mexican.

EDIT: OK, I've now seen the Assantis from R.I.

One of the things I wondered about is so many of them are from rural areas or small towns, yet they appear as if they've been getting SSI benefits since they were very young, like Bettie Jo and Christina. I wonder if it's much easier to get disability if you live in a small town compared to if you live in an urban area. I've known people who were dying of cancer who couldn't get approved for disability, but they get it for being morbidly obese.

Yeah the Assanti brothers. They had another woman on from Ohio - no southern accent from her either. Her name was Britney or something. Yes I too get tired of the southern twangs all the time, not because I think the accent is ignorant or anything it's just that we hear it from someone literally every episode.

My thoughts exactly. Nothing against the people because of their accents, but man -- anybody watching this in the world must be wondering what this epidemic of fat Southerners is all about. I'd guess part of it has to do not only with the higher rate of obesity in Southern states but also the fact that Dr. Now is in Houston and there's a higher likelihood that people in that vicinity would feature.
