Disgusting all the fat haters and shamers on this board

I've came across this board and have noticed how hateful and spiteful people are to obese or overweight people. I guess it has to do with education. You hate what you don't know.

some of these people actually do have endocrine disorders., some of them have addictions obviously. ever heard of Cushings Syndrome? google it. there are other disorders as well. years and years of steroid use can definitely impact weight and weight gain.

don't categorize them as it makes one look like an ass and the mean rude and hateful comments are disgusting. not all obese people stuff their face with fast food and junk food and do not exercise, or stink, don't bath., that is a total myth by some dumb-ass that doesn't do their research correctly. would you still be talking crap if the person was anorexic? i highly doubt it.

"Say Auf Wiedersehen to your Nazi balls"!

reply

Yeah, they all have Cushing's Syndrome or endocrine disorders. What a crock. I'd be surprised if one percent can use that excuse legitimately. And, if you had done any research on the subject (remember your "education" comment?), you would know that people with Cushing's Syndrome and other medical reasons don't balloon to 800 lbs. Nice try.

The instances of these people having an actual medical condition that contributes to their horrendous weight is about zip. They are the size of a garden shed because they eat too much. Plain and simple. They take in more than they burn, some of them darn near exponentially.

Education? What? Seeing people stuff an amount of food into their face in one sitting that would be enough for a normal, healthy sized person for two weeks requires some type of obesity education to find some excuse? Is this the education you are speaking of?

You hate what you don't know.
It doesn't require weighing 800 pounds to realize how a human being weighing 800 pounds is absolutely ridiculous. The human body was not designed to be like this. I don't think being instinctively repulsed by this is something that requires political correctness when speaking of it. It's hideous.

not all obese people stuff their face with fast food and junk food and do not exercise, or stink, don't bath.
With the exception of the last two, of which the last we are treated to at the beginning of each episode, this only applies to the people on here, right? Sure, I see 500 pounders out for a jog on a regular basis, who then replenish themselves with a salad and a glass of water.

You can give every excuse you want for them The fact is that when someone weighs 800 pounds it's of their own doing, and it's hideous. I'm not advocating calling someone like that out on the street or in an "All You Can Eat for $5.99" restaurant, but this isn't the public, so to speak, and on here people have the freedom to be honest.

Lastly...Anorexia is a far more psychological condition than stuffing your face with 30,000 calories at a sitting, so calling them out is an entirely different thing.

You ought to try that education thing you mentioned before posting again. You call people stupid in a not so veiled way. Really? Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black? Take a look at your entire post. Did you skip your English class that decade?

People that bash or make fun of others due to their size or appearance, or illnesses need to take Empathy 101, especially if they are well into adulthood and still doing this. I guess their parents or teachers didn't teach them tolerance for those we view as not normal. Its called bullying period! There, I've made it plain and simple for you, OK?

Its disgraceful, and depraved on a cellular level. If the show repulses or sickens you, why sit down and watch? For the sickening entertainment, or so you can make fun of their addictions or illness?

They need help, not to be judged and made fun of by some insecure person with major character flaws, that have 0 integrity. Also, you obviously don't have a clue about endocrine orders and the toll it can take on a person's psyche, and physicality, AND the possible underlying problems/conditions bc of them.

That being said, I'm done trying to school, that should've already happened in childhood Pre K.

I agree with what you are saying, I really do. There is a severe lack of empathy but the fact is that these people do it to themselves and it's human nature to be fascinated with it and/or even disgusted by it. They can't help how they feel either but at least they are doing it here instead of on the street or irl. I'm truly torn on the issue. No one deserves to be humiliated but everyone has the right to their opinion.

finally the true voice of reason! you are correct indeed, its just sad that they put themselves out there, and for what? a few bucks and a free surgery? sheer desperation i guess. i feel badly for the kids as well. smh

Your opinion is not righteous law.

For the same reason people slow down on the road to look at an accident.

People that bash or make fun of others due to their size or appearance, or illnesses need to take Empathy 101, especially if they are well into adulthood and still doing this.

You do realize that empathy isn't a given, and for some things it just isn't possible for various people. For me, and many others, this is one of those things. My sympathy, on the other hand, I reserve for others.

They need help, not to be judged and made fun of by some insecure person with major character flaws, that have 0 integrity. Also, you obviously don't have a clue about endocrine orders and the toll it can take on a person's psyche, and physicality, AND the possible underlying problems/conditions bc of them.

An insecure person with major character flaws and zero integrity? Not insecure one bit, and my integrity is not your integrity. Is making assumptions an every day thing with you, or do you reserve that just for people that don't feel the same way about something as you? And if you think speaking one's mind and not being PC for the sake of being PC is a character flaw, then it's a character flaw, by your description, that I happily embrace. You ought to get out a little. And there we go with the medical excuse again, of which a VERY SMALL percentage of these people can actually use. For those that can, I do feel sympathy. These people aren't them. If they were they wouldn't be on this show. I know someone with an endocrine disorder, one called hypothyroidism, and they are overweight, but nothing like this. They aren't so fat that they can barely fit in the tub to take a shower.

That being said, I'm done trying to school, that should've already happened in childhood Pre K.

That's good. You can stop wasting your time on me and others like me and direct it towards people that will weep for these people. From the immortal words of CCR, "It ain't me."

Again, your opinion is not righteous law.

THANK. YOU. GABE.

My mother works as a vascular technologist and in the nature of her profession, she sees MANY overweight and obese people. They constantly complain about blood clots, they have diabetes (and don't take their fluid medication and then get confused when their legs swell up because they don't know how medicine works), and they constantly complain about pain and soreness in their joints and knees BECAUSE LIKE YOU SAID, THE HUMAN BODY ISN'T MADE TO HOLD THAT MUCH WEIGHT.

Overweight and obese people who boast about having "low blood pressure" and/or "low cholesterol" and claim to be perfectly healthy are ridiculous. As if that's the only thing to worry about when you're fat. I think many people don't actually know what blood pressure IS.

It's funny how people are quick to acknowledge that anorexia comes with psychological issues, but people are also so quick to attack someone who is severely overweight and make fun of them, rather than to acknowledge that here too, are people with psychological issues. There are reasons why people overeat and become severely overweight. SOMETIMES yes, it's a slow metabolism or thyroid issue, but more often than not, it is because the person IS suffering mentally and is using food to distract them from their problems.

They're using food to hide. This sounds bizarre, I'm sure, but many of them are HIDING inside their bodies, and then have to deal with people staring at them because they're overweight, so now they have even more issues, and once again, they turn to food to deal with it. Once they are severely overweight, they then feel helpless and hopeless and that's when the excuses start as to why they're eating the way they do. They are using the food as a crutch. "I love sweets!" or "'x' food makes me happy when I eat it." and for a brief moment, that may be true. But that moment passes, and then they want to get that feeling back, so they eat more.

And like an alcoholic or a druggie, they need to hit rock bottom before they wake up to what they're doing to themselves, and finally decide to make a change. Sometimes though, they never hit rock bottom, and they eat to the death. Their bodies finally give out (usually the heart, or kidneys, or both), and that's it.

So, maybe the OP is a bit right when they said that perhaps people should stop attacking these people because they overeat so much, and TRY and understand WHY they do it, and it's not just because "they stuff their face." That's something an ignorant and/or in-compassionate person says.

The fatal flaw in fat shaming is that it doesn't work. Most won't use it as motivation, it only makes them feel worse which in turn will make them eat more.

Are you familiar with Reddit? There are a few subs dedicated to "fat people hate" (the main one was shut down, but people keep trying unsuccessfully to start new ones) that gets very nasty! I am of the mind that there isn't a solid specific cause to be that large (speaking of the upwards of 600 lbs), and it certainly isn't healthy
On the flipside, there are plenty of the fat acceptance/ SJW , and "fat people logic" where overweight people post all sorts of excuses and/or inaccurate information. As an example, somebody was insisting that even though they are 5'5 and weigh 285 lbs, they are nowhere near obese (morbidly or otherwise) but could stand to loose a few pounds. Most people there try to convince others that they can be "healthy at any size" or that they are not overweight at all, such as my example. I am 5'8 and weigh between 115-125 at this stage in my life. There was a time however where I was in the 180 range. You bet your (fat) ass my doc told me I was borderline morbidly obese! (sorry, not actually calling you fat...just a play on words) as well.
Maybe they figure that because they can convince themselves they aren't huge, they can convince other people as well.

I can't die! I have 43 twitter followers that depend on me! oh, and I have a daughter.

Sometime when you have time to spare...hop on over to Reddit to the "fat logic" subs. So many people going on about "healthy at any size". I have nothing against overweight people at all (and having been there myself at one point) I just can't agree on that, buy boy oh boy do they try to convince others of it!
I cited on a different post where a woman who is 5'5 and 185 lbs is saying she (assuming a female, I could be wrong) is not obese, let alone morbidly Obese. Only saying they could stand to lose a few pounds.

The people who appeared on this show that DID lose the weight proves that they did NOT have endocrine disorders. Obviously the show did complete examinations to find out if something other than overeating was the reason they were obese. As for those that weren't as successful as Dr Now hoped after surgery, the cameras following them showed they did NOT follow his instructions or the diet. They didn't exercise, they ate what they wanted and then they showed up at the clinic and gave every excuse in the book about why they weren't losing but refused to admit they were cheating when confronted, because some of them had gained weight.

Can you find a single person from this show or even in history, who got to 600 plus pounds due to illness? I don't hate fat people at all. I don't think they should feel ashamed or be made to feel bad. They are people who deserve respect, and we *all* have our own bad behaviours that we indulge in, just most of us don't have an outward show of it (as in the form of overeating turning into obesity).
But I sincerely want to know if there is even a single person on any of these episodes who could truly be said to be an innocent victim of health issues beyond their control?

reply

The fact that those people lost weight pretty much tells you that they didn't had any disorders that made them gain weight.

And nobody is criticizing ALL obese people. On this forum people are criticizing people from this show who have no self-control. They all have some sad story from their past - well, welcome to life, we all probably have some bad experience from the past that we can use as a reason for eating too much. Hell, I went through the war when I was younger - I could easily claim that I have traumas (which I do) from it and that I'm overeating because of that.

These people have problem with weight because they love to eat junk food. There is no disorder causing them to eat a double hamburger instead of a salad or to exercise.

leybadana....all obese people may not eat fast food, however, that's what we see the people on this show eating. Since most people don't know people who weigh 600 plus pounds they can only go by what they see on this show. I'm sure there are many disorders and illnesses that contribute to obesity they are just not showing those people on this show.

reply

Like what, an underactive thyroid? Classic excuse as they stuff their faces with 10,000 calories a day LOL

reply

If all they stuffed were their faces they probably wouldn't be overweight. Some of it has to go IN their mouths...

reply

While diseases and medications can cause weight gain, it's not such massive amounts. Everyone on reality TV is ragged on, and when people are well, gross, they get ragged on even more. These people exploited themselves willingly, and being torn apart comes with the territory.
