Ashley R.'s story tonight

It's said that her and her husband live with her parents. I want to see how well that works out. It should be an interesting episode.

From what I saw there are no problems. He obviously loves Ashley and her family seem to love him. She looked really pretty after her makeover.

reply

This episode was definitely my favorite! She has such a kind, sweet personality. Although she's had many difficult obstacles in her life I have no doubt that her dreams and goals will come to fruition. Loved the makeover at the end!

Congratulations on your hard work, Ashley ?

reply

Pulling for her and her family to help her along. Hope she'll be like Amber, doing well. She looks fantastic these days. Go Ahsley R!

Just now watching this episode and I cannot believe that the car her and her husband are using someone stole the tires on their car. That just pisses me off. Who would do such a thing? If I could find out who did this to them, I would go to that person and beat the tar out of him/her and then call the police to have him/her arrested.

reply

Oh man I got so angry when that happened. She's been one of my favorite cases on the show. I was so sad when the tires were stolen!

She's a Trooper! I'm truly happy for her and her husband. She'll hit her targets in no time.

Who is her husband? He marries a woman who weighs 450 pounds because he likes her eyes? And, of course he cannot work because he's her caretaker. And he can't say no to getting her more food? Is he at fat fettishist? Is he a freeloader? Does he want to control her by making her immobile? Seems about half the women on this show have a husband who is murdering them with food, but why?

reply

You left out the fat men who have wives murdering them with food and the family members doing the same thing. It's not just husbands doing this.

reply

And, of course he cannot work because he's her caretaker.

I don't think he was her caregiver because Ashley worked full-time at a call center, and in the beginning they showed her mother washing her back in the shower and giving her food not the husband. It was strange they never said why he had no driver's license. Even though I don't remember this, someone elsewhere posted that they did say he had a job, but didn't have a license to drive.

reply

Two most likely reasons why someone doesn't drive:
1) DUIs
2) Not in the country legally

Really? Please explain.

In a way I do understand because if you watch many of these shows they seem to follow the same "storyline:" They show them struggling to get out of bed, then getting naked to take a shower with blurred out body parts and their voice over, then them driving through drive-thru's at fast food joints. Then the long trip to Houston with all the problems they have along the way.

With the obese women they nearly all have some dim-witted husband who neither works or drives.

I always find their updates and "Where Are They Now" more interesting.

Every episode follows the same script

I totally get where you're coming from. This is the second episode of the season and both had likable subjects. Two hours is a lot to sit through with the same formula...

Personally, I am more entertained by the jerks who fight with Dr. Now and don't follow his instructions.

reply

Well, I like the shows better when the person does make a good effort more than the ones where they make excuses and continue to eat poorly. But...I agree, why 2 hours?! Like the others said, each story follows the same type of script and I really didn't need to hear multiple times about how much she'll miss her family but it's for the best, or see all the stops they made on their car trip, etc...Ashley was nice but I don't know why TLC is making this show 2 hours. It's not needed. I thought the season premiere with the TWO sisters was two hours because there were two of them, and it was the premiere. But is it going to be 2 hours each time?

reply

In addition to all that, the part that I hated the most is her voice. I'm surprised that she didn't put her therapist to sleep with that soft and slow voice.

reply

I was wondering why her episode was so long, I thought I was watching a movie. Anyways, an hour was just fine.

reply

They may want to do something to the other family members. The sisters looked like they are going down the same road.

reply

And the mother, too!! They were all massively obese but were talking about Ashley as if she was the only one with a problem....I don't get it, if you see your older sister turning out like this, wouldn't make even more darn sure that you didn't go down the same route????
I don't understand how people can be so deluded...
