It was so surreal to me to see a little girl frying pork chops

Idk why that scene effected me that way. I've seen kids that had to be little adults and maybe take care care of their younger siblings or something like that, but frying pork chops. I had the same feeling in that one episode where that little boy was in the washing machine while doing the laundry. I'm an adult and I've never fried chicken or pork chops in my life because I just never wanted to risk not cooking it all the way through seeing as how idk what I'm doing when it comes to fried foods, yet this little girl clearly knows how to cook them correctly. And then after all that, the child goes and sits on her mums lap because after all, she's just a kid. So sad.

Yikes! I wasn't even thinking about the possibility of trichinosis. Good observation.

I was more concerned about the child being splashed by the hot oil or, heaven forbid, a grease fire breaking out. Such a potentially dangerous situation for the sweet little girl.

I do commend Cynthia for taking in her cousin's children. To go from being childless to having 3 little ones, can't have been easy. I am concerned that, with a lot of the food being fried, the children with develop their mother's unhealthy lifestyle. I pray that doesn't happen.

I was thinking the same !! And how horrible for 11 year old kid to take care of everyone ! I hated how Cynthia was crying about her so called "sacrifices" ?? What ??? She gained 4 lb ! Her brother response to that was great ! He was great !! Eating less it's a sacrifice ?? Compare to what ?? Give your daughter back her childhood , stop whining about your time missed with kids , what about that sweet girl's 11 year old life ???

Another thing that irritated me about the situation was how she didn't correct Dr. Now when he was talking about how she has to cook for a houseful of kids so she's around food all the time. No. She does not cook. The 11-year-old cooks for the household. She just went along with it though since it's another excuse.

And how she had to go lie back down after eating breakfast. No cleaning up the kitchen, taking out the overflowing trash, nothing. Wow, eating all that food your child made for you just wore you right out! SMH

I couldn't even finish watching this episode. Her petulant attitude when Dr. Now wasn't happy about gaining "just four pounds" annoyed me and then her outburst in the car with her brother pissed me off. I don't care what happens to her.

I thought that same thing. Another visit she told Dr. Now that she gained 4 pounds because she was sick. The cameras didn't capture it, but that was probably BS too.

As for her kids... For all they've been through, I think they were awesome. You could tell they really did love each other and their lying mom.

Yep, I'm watching this episode now and that's exactly what I thought. All that bitching and moaning about her sacrifices and how's she supposed to cope trying to cook for her family when it's clear she already doesn't. She's a train wreck who sees herself as the victim and I'd be really surprised if she had even marginal success. She likes thinking of herself as the victim. She likes telling her kids how awesome she is for sacrificing for them. Blah, blah, blah, everybody sees right through you, honey.

It's sad, no doubt, and much too common. What's sadder is when they come up with every excuse in the world to use to justify this type of thing. They'll say that they know it's wrong, but actions speak louder than words, and the actions of many in this situation are VERY clear.

I'm actually quite surprised that more of these folks haven't had their children taken by child protective services. It seems like people in this situation would have visits from those who work in that field as so many receive public assistance, but it's actually not common to see this.

Perhaps they keep it well hidden.

I can't believe no one is mentioning what totally bugged me! The 11 year old girl was alone in the kitchen cooking while the three boys were just sitting around playing video games. WTF?!?!?!
