Did I hear Dr. Nowzaradan right?

He kept stressing Kirsten won't live another 5 years, but when he first met her and her family, it sounded like he said she wouldn't live another MONTH if she didn't start losing weight. Did anybody else catch that, or am I wrong?

reply

Maybe when he said she won't live a month, that was before the hernia surgery? Was he saying if she didn't get the hernia fixed, she only had a month?

I have it DVRed and just watch their first meeting again and I didn't hear him saying anything about not living another month, only the comment about not living another five years.

My favorite part was when he told her he wouldn't see her anymore unless it was an emergency and that they were done. He can be tough when he has to be.

reply

Yeah! Love when Dr. Now lays down the law

reply

No doubt. He doesn't take any excuses from anyone and he's a tough old guy. I like him for that.

He's tough, but he also gives a lot of chances to people who don't deserve them. Time wasted on Penny, Pauline, Sean, etc could've been spend on people who would truly appreciate his help.

I know there is a guy coming up this season that I've seen somewhere before. He's the worst whiner/demander I've ever seen, but I can't think of his name nor where I've seen him. I remember in the preview he falls outside of a house.

I keep thinking his name is John, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, I'm sure he and Dr. Now are going to butt heads.

He's falls out of the golf cart at about 1:07 in this preview video of the new season....

I seem to remember seeing him on Youtube a while ago. I think his name is Billy, if it's the same guy.

reply

Yep. I think that's him.

I don't understand how some folks think Dr.Now has a bad bedside manner?? There was a thread dedicated to it. Dr. Now has a job to do, he's trying to save their lives, he can't coddle them the way their families have.

And as others have pointed out, Dr. Now always gives credit when it's due. He tells people he's proud when they have done well.

Agreed, completely. He tells it like it is and doesn't pull any punches. He's not there to treat them like children and coddle them along the way. They are adults and he treats them as such, giving them factual statements and advice. How they take it is on them.

And, along with your second statement, I've seen him very happy with people's progress, and he doesn't hesitate to tell them so.

I wish he would tell the family member that is usually with the patient that they could also do the programme, as most of them are grossly overweight too!

reply

That was good, but he didn't actually say he was done with her aside from an emergency. He was saying it would come to that if she didn't comply with the program anymore, including seeing a therapist.
