Kristen - nasty candidate, nasty family!!

Anyone else think that this was a horrible episode?? Or is, for me, since I'm still watching it...
I just can't believe the family dynamics - they are all so horrible and rude to each other, and the son is a total jerk!!
No wonder she turns to eating....

She pawned the son off on her parents. She then moved in with them all after her drug dealer roommate when to prison (I think) and sprawls out naked in the same room she shares with her son.

They then decided to uproot the son, taking him away from his friends, his home, his school.... and bring him to Houston and then LEFT HIM THERE ALONE with nothing more than a mattress to sleep on while the grandparents went back to Washington for 2 weeks.

What if she would have needed serious help during that time? She couldn't even shower by herself. Admitted that her mom needs to wipe her butt for her.

He's only 13/14....how would you have handled the situation?

reply

Good point, and it's not like he has any shining examples, either!
I just find this entire family so unlikable, and she is the biggest whiner!! It's not like she was forced to do this, after all...it's all her own making and she should be grateful that she is being given this chance!!!

reply

I'm watching this episode right now, they're leaving Neiko and Kirsten...

And I swear to you, my first thought was absolute horror at the thought of a 14 year old virtual stranger being forced to wash her.

Horror for both of them, mind.

reply

I felt sorry for the poor kid. If I was him, I would have been shoving Cheetos down her throat until she choked.

I didn't see this episode yet, but I saw an excerpt the other day on TLC and they showed the son being a douche to his mother purposely eating junk food in front of her and admitting he refused to help her.

She laying on her bed and complaining to him that he's being mean and repeatedly asking him not to eat that junk in front of her, and he pretty much doesn't care.

Now I can see why.

From some of the comments about her, she pretty much deserves it.

She gets the help and another opportunity for survival and all she can do is treat people horribly.

That's not right.

reply

Wait until you see it. She's horrible to that poor boy.

reply

They are all horrible to each other!!

reply

He's probably going to grow into having a lot of mental problems because no one is willing to properly care for this boy.

He didn't deserve the treatment he's getting and some mothers don't deserve to be mothers while there are couples who are struggling to conceive and can't because of medical issues.

If she didn't want him she should have had an abortion or give him up for adoption in the hopes he finds a better home.

At least it's better than the crap he's had to put up with.

I think the son had plenty reason to be miserable and rude. I wish they had offered him some therapy as well. That was a messed-up situation for any kid to be in. I did not think his grandmother was mean. If anything, she was walked over. Kirsten's dad was a jerk and I wished he'd apologized to Kirsten at some point. He was part of the problem.

reply

The son had to deal with stuff no thirteen-year-old should have to I'm watching it just now. I would have run away.

reply

OP, are we watching the same episode? Yes there was nastiness. But she is a DISGUSTING woman depending on and stressing out everyone around her. Is her son supposed to be happy to deal with that?! In the first few minutes her mom was helping her shower whist she had a TANTRUM because her fat self couldn't find the shower seat to sit on. The mom was not nasty to her. Her son deserves better. No way in HELL should they all have to share a bedroom because their larda s s mother needed to come home to live with her parents. All those kids sharing a bedroom is frowned upon anyway, but then they need to share it with a tub of lard who is literally WHEEZING just walking around the house. She is DISGUSTING and out of breath just sitting around. I'd also like to add that I feel like her addictions were exaggerated. From watching documentaries and knowing people that have tried meth, coke, etc. She would have had to FORCE herself to eat. How can someone be so fat on those drugs? I've never seen it. And how could her body handle all that? Anyway, I'm just confused, OP. You sound sympathetic towards her. She is a junkie loser who couldn't take care of her kids, constantly throws tantrums because she's so fat she can't do a thing and yells at everyone else, and had to go home to live at what, nearly 40? Please re-watch the episode. This woman is one of the most horrible people I have ever seen on these shows. What a cU n t. No other word for her. I'd have punched her lights out and let her live on the street if she spoke to me and treated me the way she treats her family. Disgusting.

reply

And the constant wheezing tantrums made me want to rip her head off.

reply

Jesus that whole episode was a mess.

Kirsten just came across as an absolutely horrible person. Usually when you watch this the candidates have redeeming qualities and you root for them but she was just awful.

She was horrible to everyone around her and just constantly winged and cried when people didn't immediately jump to her every whim.

She left her family and ditched her kids in favour of drugs. Only coming back when she could no longer get a regular supply of drugs.

She was absolutely awful. I've no idea why her family were helping her given how horrid she was to them all.

Don't get me wrong her family didn't come across very well either but even so I can't think of a single reason why they were helping her.

I just started watching recently so haven't seen as many as probably most of the people reading this board, but she was easily the most unlikable person I've ever seen in an episode. They did make the previews look like her son was a jerk, but it was her. She was absolutely toxic.
