How old is Joel supposed to be?

At best I'd say he's 50, meaning he would've been 18 when he had Sarah, but he looks sooooo much younger than that. Anyone know his actual age?

According to this: http://thelastofus.wikia.com/wiki/Joel Joel is in his late 40's. I would say 48~49. He was still in high school (I presume) when he had Sarah and had to give up going to college.

Could be dangerous.

That seems about right. He appeared to be very early thirties in the opening scene, having had his daughter at a fairly young age. Late forties seems right for the rest of the game.

As someone in there 40's, I'd just like to say 50 isn't that old!!! Although l admit I probably thought it was when I was younger!! Obviously people age in different ways.
Many of the things that age people quicker, including alcohol and cigarettes, are possibly hard to get in the LoU universe! Plus Joel has to keep fit for his chosen occupation, smuggling!! So that all adds up to a slow ageing process!
That's just my guess at the creators thinking anyway! He definitely looks a good deal older in the main game compared to the opening sequence!

He said he had Sarah when he was "pretty young" (16-18), Sarah it was 12 when she died which would make him around 28-30, and then it cuts to 20 years later so he was probably 48-50.
