Brother's employer?

Who was hiring him to kill all of the accountant's clients and why? I got everything else from the movie but that escapes me.

reply

It was John Lithgow.

Yeah they weren't trying to kill his other clients, they were waiting at the farm because they knew (somehow) the farmers were clients and (somehow) that he would be visiting them at exactly that time.

Presumably they didn't know he going there to practice shooting his .50 cal sniper rifle, because driving out to an isolated open area to kill an expert sniper while he has his .50 cal rifle with him would be a pretty bad idea. But if they didn't know about his secret life - John Lithgow didn't, nobody did, so how could they? - why wouldn't they try to get him alone at home like the others?

Not their luckiest day.

They were worried about being recorded. Not necessarily by him, but why risk it in the city when you know he will eventually go out to the middle of nowhere. They did the other folks in their homes as they never went to such remote locales.

Thug 1: We could have went to his house and shot him in his home. And we'd be on a plane by now.

Thug 2: Or on a security camera, or some nosy neighbor's iPhone.

reply

They followed him from his house to the farm. Since he pulls in and out of a shut garage they'd have no idea he was going to shoot a high power rifle.

Good job paying attention.
