One thing is certain: you can’t play an intelligent character if you’re not intelligent. You may not be as stellar IRL as the character you are playing, but you know what “smart” feels like, and acting is about feeling. Otter, I agree with your assessment of Anna, all of it, and it ain’t easy to play smart. She can, when she needs to. Off the top of my head, other actresses who can are Jody Foster and Elizabeth Shue. There are of course others, they’re just not on top of my head right now! Kristin Stuart, star of Twilight, to whom Anna was allegedly background material, really can’t. Neither can Jennifer Lawrence—bright, yes; remarkable? Not happening. Also, Siorsce Ronan? Hell yes. I think Anna will have a very long career, if she wants it, as a journeyman actress, especially with her relationship with the biggest name in entertainment, Disney. Do I think she could be more than a journeyman? I do; but I question that she wants that. I sense that she may want to have a life aside from stardom for herself. I could see her building up a nest egg, taking roles after reaching that goal for fun, additional funding, or, ideally, both, and enjoying her privacy and her path in life as she sees it.
