The movie was spoiled for my by Emma Thompson's accent. Every time she spoke it made my ears hurt which is frustrating as I think she's a great actress

What did you expect her to sound like? You know - since you're familiar with her work.
shareShe actually studied tapes of the real P.L Travers at recording sessions to prepare herself for the role. She wanted to make herself sound as accurate as possible for the movie so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
