reply

Mr. Banks was the humorless father of the two kids in the movie and yes, it should have been called "Walt and Mrs. Travers."

Mr. Banks were the children father in Mary Poppins.

Just watch the film.

Mr. Banks represents her feelings about her father. The scene where she and Disney are talking in her house is about the need to "save" their fathers by forgiving them for the ways they had failed their children, and by celebrating the good things about them.

Well said!

The movie explains it very well.

Mr banks is the father in the mary Poppins stories. But the film's plot was made up by Disney, in the Mary poppins books Mr banks is just an ordinary middle class father, he and mrs banks are just background figures. the film tries somehow to equate what happens in the Mary Poppins film to Travers's own life, which seems very unlikely.

Mr. Banks is Pamela's father that Disney stole, ruined and gave a second death too. Making him more like HIS father, not hers and by ruining her works

reply

He ruined it by making the ending about redemption? OK. Whatever.

Mr. Banks was not based off of Pamela's father. Apart from both being bankers, they didn't have anything in common.
