I really really love this movie! And I think that there's a big possibility for the story to have a sequel. It can be about Ame or Yuki's teenage lives. Or it can be about Hana's next life in the rural area, and I really want to see more about this story. Anyone else expecting the same? Hehe.

Anyways, I think wishing a sequel for this film is actually not a bad idea.
Unlike Spirited Away which saw the heroine leave the magical world, our main character in this film can still turn into a wolf at the end.
But if done wrong, it will be miserable for both the original film and the fans.
I personally don't want a sequel since the ending was so beautiful.

Thanks for the response, yeah there's that risk also... but maybe I have a big fat faith for Mamoru Hosoda. He'd do very well I suppose, but yeah the ending to this movie is very touching... if there's a sequel people would be expecting more than this or different but the same level of good. :D
Yes Hosoda Mamoru is a fantastic talent and I dare say he's the next Miyazaki.
I really can't wait for his next project.
But I don't think he'll do a sequel just yet, if he intends to do it in the first place.
He'll let it ripe, let it grow on the audience and revisit it with more mature vision.
Just my personal wish :)

shareI wouldn't hold your breath for a sequel. Not that there isn't plenty of room for additional stories to be told to follow this up. More than likely, as with so many other anime--though usually when it comes to series rather than movies, if you want more, you'll either need to look up the fanfiction that has likely been written, and probably plenty of it, or perhaps if some other creator has produced a spin-off or sequel manga based on the movie.
