Left Eye breaking down how much money artists get!!!

OK, first of all: Left Eye's a lot smarter than people (especially Pebbles) gave her credit for being!!!

Now then; I've got 2 questions:

1. Using Left Eye's logic about how much an artist gets in the music business, (as she said in the movie: $0.07 for every album sold, and 8 points for every album), if a CD typically costs $15.00, and the artist is only getting $0.07 for every album, what does the rest of the money represent???
2. Using Left Eye's logic, how come Michael Jackson didn't get ripped off for his albums??? Especially "Thriller"???

I think that they get 7 points which is &.08 per point. So they get $.56 per album. The rest of the money goes to packaging, distribution, shelf space, advertisement, overhead ect...

The Jacksons didn't make much on their earlier albums either. When he went solo, he most likely had much more bargaining power, which is why he was not on Motown. Artists make the bulk of their money on touring, merchandising, and coporate sponsorship.
