unadressed issues and errors in this film

1. lisa's past

we first see her playing a piano. but we dont really get a broad backstory on her. we dont REALLY get to see what happened in her life BEFORE meeting tboz. although maybe tboz and chilli left that out on purpose because they didnt know precisely what happened and didnt want to get backlash from lisa's family

2. Crystal Jones

what happened to her after her dismissal from pebbles' office?? where did she go?? are we to believe that she just disappeared and the girls never saw her again?? in the film the girls never even mention her name after that. was she really that irrelevant??? wasnt she a founding member?? wasnt she a friend?? are we to believe she just didnt care about her rejection?? they couldve at least told us what she ended up doing. that woulda been very easy to work into the script.

T-BOZ: Have u heard from crystal lately??

Left EYE: yeah she is a mother now living in ohio. She is doing well.

simple as that.

3. Pebbles

where did she go?? another character with no proper closure. how did she take the news about the girls firing her?? was there a confrontation?? i find it hard to believe she took her firing lightly going by her portrayal in the film.

4. chilli's abortion

did chilli tell her mom?? and if so when did she?? and I dont think she was being completely honest about dallas's reaction to her pregnancy. especially when she said in an interview that she felt pressured and forced by "someone". gee I wonder who she was referring to... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0qrFrtlIIc watch interview here

5. left eye's solo album

it was released in aug 2001. but in the film they show the girls at the grammys in 2000 defending an album that came out in 2001. http://images2.fanpop.com/image/photos/8900000/TLC-at-grammys-tlc-musi c-8956958-344-425.jpg

6. single order

creep came out BEFORE waterfalls. but in the film waterfalls is shown before creep and the girls are on the creep set discussing a number one single. were they referring to creep or waterfalls??? both songs went number one but im confused. did creep go number one before a video release???

7. left eye's discovery

how did they know left eye was in the woods after burning the house?? how long did it take to find her??

8. tboz and dalvin's relationship

we didnt see enough. we didnt even see them really interact at all after his VERY BRIEF [blinked and you woulda missed it] introduction. i honestly forgot they were even together until tboz's friend said she saw him with another woman.

9. TLC'S money problems

in the film they conveniently left out the part where each girl got 300,000 a piece. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E92q9pYnaYo [watch interview here] granted they deserved ALOT more but 300k in 1995 isnt exactly poor. seems like they may have bought things that were out of their means but didnt want to portray that on screen cuz you can definitely survive on 300k.

10. Where the hell was Usher???

this all could have been addressed if the movie was an hour longer than it was, which means they would be overdoing it. thats just doing too much. i agree with plugging in Crystal and Pebbles a bit more but the rest of the things u added wasn't all that necessary.

u might get your wish on a DVD release with deleted scenes maybe?

the Jackson 5 movie is long and the result is a great made for tv movie that still holds up till this day. the tlc movie felt rushed and low budget. the girls did a great job with the dancing and recreating the videos but overall the movie felt very lacking. like someone else said it was like they were going through a check list.

reply

I'm still watching the film. This deserved to be a 4 hour film cause two and a half hours just isn't time to fit in someone's early beginnings in the music industry.

Speaking on the scenes regarding their money issues, TLC wasn't the only artist on LaFace label who went broke. Toni Braxton went through the same thing.

Damn Pebbles was a titan! Not so surprising though, in fact that didn't really excel her 'career' into the future, I mean where is she now? Last I read about her is when she became born-again Christian. I later read she was trying to get back into the music scene, but that's basically existent.

reply

Why would Usher be relevant? They started dating less than a year when Lisa died, and they broke-up before she and T-Boz got back into the studio. Her relationship with Usher wasn't a real big part of when TLC were together.

reply

well i was kinda kidding...u are right he wasnt really needed.

reply

Numbers 1 and 10 are not needed. All the others are very good, especially 2 and 3. You hit the nail on the head with those

11 Mack 10 weight and his minor role in the back
12 The awkward way of dealing with Lisa death
13 Cole from Martain playing an LA Reid with hair
14 Crazysexycool sold like 23 Million worldwide the math part should have used more exact numbers
After that I actually liked the movie.

I just finished watching the movie may I saw that was one long movie. The commercials got on my nervous if wasn't for the commercials it would have been about a good 2 hours. OP I see what you are saying and I've been a fan of TLC since day one and I have T-Boz book she had put out back in 1999 I have to read it again if Crystal was mentioned in her book. After Pebbles was let go she was just let go I guess she just went on to do her own thing or whatever. You right "creep" did come out before "waterfalls" I don't know why they did it backwards in the movie.

reply

I dunno if it was just a rumour but I hear at one point T-Boz was getting abused by Mack 10,& all we ever saw in the film was an unnatractive man in the background in one or two scenes. I mean what do we expect, its a biopic on VH1.

reply

They did show Pebbles at Lisa's funeral.

The singles order did bother me. And they didn't even mention Red Light Special

The main thing I questioned was where was Babyface? He was a partner in LAFace records and wrote/produced several of their big hits.

Al - Alicia
An - Andrew
Jo - Joseph
Be - Benjamin

I'm the only one who didn't care anymore about Crystal? What does it matter that we get a follow up story on her after she was cut? Umm she was cut and didn't make it to the actual group so her story-line to me ended where it should. Same thing with Pebbles. They got from underneath her wing some no more point to drag out their story lines because it no longer effects TLC

reply

One more error: "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg" came out before "What About Your Friends". I couldn't believe that the order of the songs was incorrect. Somebody didn't do the research.

reply

I'm sure each member of TLC could have had a two and a half hour movie for themselves, but the movie was about TLC, the group. If they would have explained each members individual story, it would have dragged on far too long. I think we can fill in the blanks on a lot of the stuff they chose not to touch on. For example, T-boz's relationship. He cheated. She got upset. The end. What else was needed? Pebbles was a terrible person. She did them dirty. They got out of that relationship. The end. Whatever else happened to Pebbles after that point wasn't relevant to TLC's story. Again, Chilli's relationship with Usher must have had no affect on the group so there for it wasn't relevant to the story. I loved the movie. I think they handled it very well.
