I can't be the only one. What other '70s babies have been waiting the majority of their life for a Secret Wars film?

sharehopefully it turns out good , with the colossal number of characters involved in the Secret Wars storyline , the movie needs to be even bigger than Infinity War/Endgame , i'm not sure how would they fit it into just one movie
shareThis seems like a film that is worth making three hours. People will watch it. Look at Dune or The Batman. Or hell, Endgame.
shareI have no qualms about watching a long film if it's good. My favorite film of all time is Seven Samurai which runs for 3.5 hours. A film can be as long as the story warrants. That said, Secret Wars seems like a difficult story to cram into 3 hours. I can easily imagine it as a TV series with 12 hour-long episodes, none of which would drag due to how much story there is to tell. We'll see if they eventually split it into two films, or how they handle it, but I have faith in Marvel at this point, and trust them to create a quality film.
shareI suspect Kang Dynasty will do some of the heavy-lifting beforehand, kind of like how Infinity War led into Endgame.
shareI can see that being the case, but the stories are such separate tales, unlike Infinity War and Endgame, which was one long story broken into two parts.
shareSo a new report, assuming it's true, is that the Council of Kangs actually beat the 616 Avengers in TKD while in SW, they team up with Marvel characters from older franchises (Tobey Maguire, Hugh Jackman, and Ryan Reynolds were name dropped) to save the Multiverse.
shareThat would be an interesting spin on the actual Secret Wars, which was based on the Beyonder, not Kang. In that story, the Avengers are killed by Dr. Doom, who has stolen the Beyonder's powers, but Doom is duped into resurrecting them by, I believe, the Beyonder in his gambit to regain his powers. I haven't read the story since it was published in the '80s, but I think that's about how it went down.
shareI read the comics 30 years ago. I would never have guessed 5 years ago, let alone back then, that the comics would be adapted. Looking forward to seeing the Beyonder and Galactus will be more than a cloud this time. And Dr Doom will be more less lamer.
