Ray asks a good question. Spoilers

Why DID the cop kill Gavin. He's worried he might rat that there was in fact, heroin in Rays bowels- that it wasn't just glucose in some sort of practical joke? Why would Gavin do that- the ultimate window to get off scott free from the police, he'll just throw that away? How does throwing him of the roof of the hotel onto some mob goon's car, remotely tie up a loose end? All it does is draw attention to something he is planning on winding down to a mix-up. Was his plan contingent upon the Lithuanian driving off with the body? I get his explanation is that he just don't like the working class, but surely that is not really his main motivation right?
I know it's a weird lack of suspension of disbelief on my part, considering it's a film where a man eats his own *beep* but i just don't get it. It seemed like such a generic "who else knows about this" murder sequence that it stood out how little sense it made.

Great film regardless.

He killed him because Gavin said that he would testify in court and name everybody involved.

I believe the cop worked for Pat Shepherd the main villain.

Remember the line "everybody works for somebody"

** I read the news today, oh, boy. **

reply

Yeah, he worked for Pat.

The bit that got me though was when Pat shanked his Russian enforcer guy IN THE NECK. Why exactly? Just seemed like a lazy way to develop Pat as a violent psycho.

Missed that scene. Anyone else?

He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. Guy was an interior decorator.

reply

He didn't shank him in the neck, he stabbed him in the cheek with his note holder/pin thingy. He did it because the guy pissed him off by not wanting to do his job and giving the excuse that he didn't know the guys address. So Pat wrote it down for him and then stuck it in his face! :-) Hope that answers your question, very enjoyable movie all the way to end!

You heard it here first. "Don't let facts get in the way of a good trolling."

he was just greedy.

Also, what's with the supposed happy end ?

OK, most of the bad guys get punished (Pat, the crooked cop and Phuc)- even though the violent cop walks and Ray's friend and step father (semi-baddies at best) are also dead - and Ray walks away.

So now we are to believe that Ray will somehow manage to sell his 1/2 kilo of uncut heroin ? And that this is a good thing ? 

How is that better than cutting a deal ?

When I'm gone I would like something to be named after me. A psychiatric disorder, for example.
