I thought this film was terrible. The only redeeming factor was the that the gore was done well and some interesting deaths were designed. The actors were awful - actually read a review that praised the acting?!?! - and, with Noble's input, expected much funnier one liners.
A fat kid locking himself in a pantry to eat tinned fruit?!? Is this set during rationing? There were crisps and stuff set out for the party. A really laboured way of getting the tin-opener death into the movie. And the "school banter": 'Remember when we got detention for laughing in class' - wow, move over Superbad.

I have a pretty high tolerance for films, but if I feel embarrassed watching it, then I know it's pretty damn crappy.

I haven't watched it but when I saw comedy/horror I became uninterested. I hate when comedy is added horror

Please do go on with your opinion about a movie you haven't seen. But in all seriousness, isn't all horror a little comedic on some level? There's never been a truly scary movie, it's impossible because we all know it's not real. So why not add comedy?

Horror comedy is some of the best stuff out there these days...

Yeah of course, most people I talk to my age (20-30) feel the same way. We know it's fake so we can't ever really be scared by a horror movie. I've been watching them since I was a kid and have never been scared by one. I always know in the back of my mind that they're not real, so how can they be scary? It's something i'll never understand, how a movie could scare you when you know it's not real.

Not to be snippy at all, but what age range are you? I notice that people who have been scared by horror movies are usually in the older crowd...

I'm 26 and even though I didn't think Stitches was remotely scary there have been plenty of other movies that have scared me.

I think it's an incredibly extreme statement to say that there has never ever been a truly scary movie. First of all, unless you've seen every horror movie ever made from around the world, you can't really make that judgement. Secondly, of course some people don't find horror movies effective but plenty of others do. Just because you don't get scared watching them doesn't mean every single other person on the planet is the same as you. If they didn't scare audiences then the genre wouldn't exist because it would serve no purpose, they're supposed to scare people, that's the whole point of them.

The fact that they're not real doesn't automatically prevent people from getting frightened watching them. If that was the case then no fictional movie would ever evoke any kind of human emotion from us.

Semantics aside, you make some good points. But if EVERY horror movie you've EVER seen (which they're my favorite genre and i've seen thousands) has never scared you, then what else can you assume? Like I said, no movie has, nor will any movie ever, actually scare me.

There's plenty of actual events in real life to be scared of, just watch the news. That's the stuff that freaks me out. Actual rapists, or people who kidnap little girls and hold them for 10 years. THAT'S scary, not something that's physically impossible like a demonic possession up on a screen with 50 other people in the room and a giant tub of popcorn and soda in your hands.

Which brings me back to my original statement of defending horror comedy. Why shouldn't it be prevalent? I wish MORE would come out! You say things about my tastes vs others, but why doesn't that apply to you and the horror comedy genre that others enjoy?

Anyway, good discussion either way!

If you've never been scared by a movie that's fair enough I'm not doubting you on that I was simply saying that it's quite a bold statement to say there's no such thing as a truly scary movie. In comparison, I've never cried watching a movie but I would never say there isn't a single movie out there that's actually sad.

The horror genre isn't simply limited to the physically impossible though, there's hundreds out there that deal with real life events.

Regarding your last point, I never said anything against the horror comedy genre, in fact I quite like it.

Really, you should stop watching horror. Or any kind of movies for that matter. You talk as if for you watching a (horror) movie is like reading statistics. They're clearly not for you.

What opinion did I give a out the movie other than to say I don't like comedy/horror. And yes, there's plenty of scary movies that have zero comedy. If all horror movies were also comedies then there would be no "comedy/horror" genre. Your comment makes absolutely no sense.

-Seriously? I need to explain this? You said you don't like horror comedy on the board for a HORROR COMEDY movie. Ergo you don't like this movie already. You obviously can't put 2 and 2 together, so let's start with 1 and 1. I still can't believe I had to explain to you what your own comment meant. But for the sake of discussion, what did your comment mean if not that? I'd love to hear what else 'I don't like horror comedies' can mean on the board of a horror comedy movie.

-Meh, it's more your interpretation that made no sense. I was saying on one level or another they're all a little comedic, not that every single one is a flat out comedy more than anything. I mean the flying blood and body parts, even on the most serious of horror movies, makes me chuckle because it's so over the top and not real. Even a classic like Rosemary's Baby was funny once in a great while with it's melodramatic acting and musical score...

I love horrors and horror comedies. Some of my favorite movies are horror comedies, but this movie was unwatchable. I really expected it to be good as the concept os somewhat original, but my boyfriend said he knew it would be awful, and he was right. We watch about 20 minutes of it last night and I couldn't stomach any more. Absolutely rubbish, horrific acting and terribly unrealistic Americanisation of Irish characters. Same with Boy Eats Girl. Don't turn Irish characters into stupid American high school stereotypes, it doesn't work and was extremely annoying. Can't understand all the positive reviews, it takes an awful lot for me not to finish a movie I want to watch.

It had a few good moments of comedy and the gore and deaths was pretty good, but felt it was a mess at the same time and just rushed ending and dialogue between the characters was crap.

Agreed ... this was utter crap and the glowing reviews are mystifying.

Is Edgar Wright the only person in the UK who can do horror comedies? I'm afraid to try and watch Cockneys vs Zombies now...

movie felt like it was made for 80s slasher/horror-comedy fans probley why a few on here hate it
also its low budget horror/film guys theres not gonna be awesome acting
