Did I miss something?

The main guy's three daughters were interviewed at length but there was never any mention of his wife - their mother, surely a crucial part of the story.

As the title of the thread suggests perhaps there was a reference to her that passed me by.

reply

No, you didn't miss anything. I watched this with two other people and we all noticed and commented on how the daughters' mother was never mentioned.

Anybody know?

Sounds like the premise for a new documentary: "Searching for Sugar Momma."

reply

total guess but,

the daughters all looked different. i would say there may have been different mothers.

At one point Eva Rodriguez does refer to him as her step-father.

I guess if Sixto and his ex-partner's relationship didn't end well, or she absconded in some way, they'd rather not bring her up at all, rather than doing so awkwardly.

reply

I wondered this as well.

reply

Always the possibility that they just declined interviews.

reply

Noticed the "step-father" reference as well. Beautiful daughters though!

reply

No she doesn't that was verbal impression she was talking about stepping on to the stage...misunderstanding.

reply

Even artists of Rodriguez's marginal fame had groupies in the early 70's.

This question was asked during a Q&A session with the director this past friday. He said she was interviewed but then asked to be cut out in the final production. He also said that they are still married but living at separate locations.

reply

The daughter with the blue eyes mentioned that her mother came from a Native and European background, but it doesn't mean the other two have the same mother.
