I never really got that part. It was an article in the paper that said he committed suicide on stage. Was that just 100% fiction from the news paper? Or was it someone else who actually committed the suicide?

It wasn't someone else who committed suicide onstage. If that really happened, we would know about it, whoever it was.
I'm assuming "Rodriguez killed himself onstage" got started as a rumor or speculation which became an urban legend, accepted as true. I'm also assuming that the article they show in the film, which I was unable to make out other than the title "Superstar Suicides", said this was what was generally believed rather than reporting it as fact. But like everything else they "knew" about Rodriguez, they had no way to verify.

Ok, I guess you're right. I just remembered them presenting it as a fact in the movie, that he had committed suicide, and showed the article. But then again I have only seen it once so I'm not sure. Maybe they were just talking about a rumor.
