What gives this movie a true edge...

...and allows the songs of this musician to still resonate, is that the success he tasted in 98 grows further for him with the movie, but he still wont get a piece of the circus (money).
The same business keeps failing to channel the value, (in which it measures itself), to the one person to whom that value stems.
A nice gesture would have been to provide a percentage of "anything" to him.
He may not want it, but it should be his to distribute to his ends.
Instead it will feed the hungry hippos further.

It makes the movie a more true piece of art though.

Is it OK if I go download a million copies of his songs and play them in public places now?

good.

Yes, it is okay. That's what Rodriguez would want.

you can play his songs in public places as much as you want. do it long enough, and you'll get to meet some people from ASCAP, BMI, and or SESAC and talk about the fascinating world of license fees
