I didn't realize Rodriguez was considered so obscure

I was too young to have listened to him in the seventies, but I was introduced to his music in the early nineties by a friend. I remember at the time I knew his name, and his songs were familiar. I had always assumed he was a big name folk artist from the seventies. I live in Australia and he was definitely reasonably well-known here. Surprised to find out that he was totally unknown in the United States. Nice for him to finally get some recognition in the country of his origin.

Im also in Australia. I hadn't heard of him, but my dad had ... he still has one of his albums on vinyl. He mentioned that the doco probably plays up Rodriguez's "obscurity", but he was fairly well known in the 70s and early 80s.

He only got big in South Africa and Australia and known there.
Other countries... Forget about it. No one even heard about him..

I'm American, and never heard of him until this movie.

I'm Mexican-chinese and i had never heard about it him before this movie. I really liked the music, not bad for the seventies, can you imagined what kind of monster he would have become if he let the machine eat his soul. Maybe he just didn't have the charisma of a mick jagger or an axl rose, you know doing all that crazy dancing and insane antics on stage, he just sat there and sang, kinda boring for the hippie days i imagine. I just wonder what awesome songs he could have done as time went by had he had the chance, like a painter getting better with time and practice, i guess we'll never know

Bob Dylan just sat there and sang (and played guitar). I hear he was pretty popular.
