saw this film yesterday and have been listening to his albums, i find it strange that after all these years he's still only done two albums. i know they didn't sell in the U.S. but seeing as he had something of a cult following in Australia and South Africa and played live in these country's that it didn't give him the motivation to record again. he had fans that would buy his albums

seeing videos of him on youtube it's pretty obvious he still played guitar even though he may have given up on having any musical career, you'd think he has 100's of songs written over the years that are waiting to be recorded

Sussex dropped him after the second album because neither one had sold many copies. Typical of the way recording contracts worked at the time from what I understand. With new artists, the labels wouldn't pay much with the excuse being the label was taking all the risk in spending money promoting an unknown artist. If the record sells, the label recoups their investment and does not pay the artist much. If the record does not sell they drop the artist. Initial contracts are set up that way for usually three albums or so. Sussex decided to drop him after the second one.

What the movie doesn't explain very well is how well did the label promote his records? Sussex doesn't come off in the film as being the greatest label in the world.
