1998 TV Documentary on Same Subject

It is called "Dead Men Don't Tour: Rodriguez in South Africa" It aired on South African TV back in '98. Which makes is all the more amazing that everyone was shocked by the "revelation" that was the subject of "Searching for Sugar Man."

The whole story was told 14 years earlier!

Granted, the "Searching" doc is more complete and more compelling. BUT the TV doc has a LOT more concert footage.

Check it out on the SugarMan.org Youtube channel.

The credits of "Searching for Sugar Man" list "Dead Men Don't Tour", probably for concert footage.

I haven't seen it, but it doesn't sound like DMDT was a documentary as much as a historical recording of Rodriguez's tour. Searching is a documentary about the whole story, which is why it is more complete.

I don't see it as "amazing" that people did not know the revelation in "Searching". People in SA certainly knew it back in 1998, but the story was not really known outside of there.
