The experience in the movie theater

I just came home after watching this movie and there are no words to describe the deep impression it made. The whole theater was quiet long after the movie credits had finished rolling. Everybody just sat quiet and staring. I think we all were so deeply affected, not only by his remarkable voice and the quality of the documentary, but also by Rodrigues as a person. He is the kind of person you just want to know more about, so mysterious. This documentary will stay with me for a long time. Not many movies and documentaries can affect like this one did. The whole experience almost seems surreal. And his voice, when he started singing I got chills all over..

"I love you as I know you. Because I know you. As you are. Good and bad. Better and worse."

I completely agree.

I came home and ordered his 2 CDs off Amazon. A lot of my friends are buying his music after seeing the movie.

I AM BUYING IT TOO!!

If Sandra Bullock can win an Oscar for 'The Blind Side' then ... ANYTHING ... is possible!

If Sandra Bullock can have a career there is no hope for anything good !

I watched this at home on a dvd and I was affected by him very much. One of his daughters spoke about hard working her father was, carrying a refrigerator on his back for example, and her comments got me between the ribs. Also the comments from the daughters about what he had introduced them to and how poor people can have big dreams.
what a season
to be beautiful
without a reason

It really sounds like the "underdog effect". People love an underdog and can easily be seduced to love something if it presents an underdog fighting to make it. In my experience it's usually underdogs themselves associating/adding their own struggles and worth on the subject of discussion. Case in point; there doesn't seem to be one single post on this board that isn't reading in to the myth (and hype) of "Rodriguez" this film was consciously building/constructing.

And why have you rated "Her" a 3? Just curious.

I watched it on DVD and it was completely quiet after the movie too. It could've also been the fact that I was by myself.
