He was not willing to carry a gun but was very happy to support the rest of his platoon in killing others.

I did enjoy this movie, but it was not Anti War, it was about how everyone has a role to play.

you got some of the message but it was also we should strive be peaceful even during War Time

I think it was about principals and spirituality/religion. It was about this guy wanting people to stop dying and to try to bring love and peace into the most desolate situations. Maybe that's not the intention, but that's what I got out of it.
