The Final Girls (2015) should be considered a F13th movie

Star Trek fans consider Galaxy Quest one of the best Star Trek movies. The Final Girls should be the same fro Friday the 13th films.

Many references to F13, the plot is based around being inside F13 films, the bad guy is Jason pretty much, even down to the ki-ki-ki-ma-ma-ma, the counsellors wearing yellow T-shirts and other easter eggs.

The only reason its not is because they most probably couldn't get the rights through expense or the rights holders being assholes, like we have seen in the last couple of years fighting over the scraps of F13.

It's a love letter to Friday the 13th as Galaxy Quest is a love letter to Star Trek and its considered a Star Trek film because of that.

Added note: One of the writers Jason Miller is pretty much horror royalty. His dad is Father Karras from the Exorcist.

Miller as a kid was in Halloween III: Season of the Witch, a memorable part in Class of '99 and one of the main characters as a kid vampire in Near Dark.

Would you consider The Cabin in the Woods is a Evil Dead movie?

reply

Unless there was a production crew behind the whole Evil Dead thing, Ash was the Virgin, Athlete, Whore, Scholar, Fool all rolled into one. If Ash had a choice of things to pick up in the cellar to trigger what horror is unleashed then no.

Cabin in the Woods was a love letter to horror films in general with a base of the Cabin setting.

Final Girls is a love letter to Friday the 13th and by association of the setting The Burning, Sleepaway Camp with a bit of My Bloody Valentine.
