Saw the Premiere

Hey guys and ghouls!

I saw The Final Girls at a TIFF Midnight Madness screening last night. I'm happy to answer any questions you have about it! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I was a little bit put off by the PG-13 rating at first (and it very much is a PG-13 horror movie) but it ended up being an entertaining and fairly clever movie.

Ask away, if you'd like!

reply

How was Taissa? Was she funny?

Btw, glad you enjoyed it! Pretty excited for this one.

The pg13 rating is a total deal breaker for me. This honestly went from being my most anticipated movie of the year to something I'll most likely never see. It's called a "love letter" to the slasher genre which is a total laugh as not a single slasher movie has ever been rated anything less than an R. It reeks of producers tampering for more money which makes no sense since it's going to VOD.
Selling out or greed should never be rewarded and slasher movies should never be rated anything lower than an R.

reply

exactly, it's a complete joke. I can't think of a slasher film that was rated anything less than an r. I mean slasher films always have hardcore violence and sex. hello, that's why it's called a slasher film, it's in the title of the genre. I just can't see how they could make a slasher film parody that is all about '80s slasher films and have it rated PG13. this movie is so disrespectful to slasher films and horror films because what are they going to do cut away from showing violence right before they show violence and cut away from showing sex or nudity right before they show sex or nudity, none of this makes sense. I don't know how it's possible to make this movie PG13 and I think it's fuc#ing retarded as fuc#, it being rated PG13.

reply

It's not a slasher at all. It's really more of a family drama with some slasher homage comedy wrapped around it. There's not much violence and there's zero nudity.

That cast is good and it's an entertaining film, but die hard slasher fans will find holes in the homages likely be irritated by it. This is designed for mainstream audiences that have seen a few slashers over the years, not for the die hard fans.

reply

Then why is it being called a slasher film? Also designed for a mainstream audiences? Like Scream was? Wasn't that a massive hit? Wasn't that rated R?

reply

She was fantastic! You could tell she was having fun with the role and subject matter. And she looked absolutely gorgeous throughout the entire movie. She participated in the Q&A afterwards and she was so sweet and shy.

Her and Thomas Middleditch were definitely the best part of the movie. He stole every scene he was in. And he has great comedic timing.

Malin Ackerman was alright too. I'm not the biggest fan of hers, so she could have been incredible and I am just being biased.

reply

Who lives, Who dies and How?

Also does it end in one of those it WAS ALL A DREAM type endings?

reply

Yay! That's good, people say she's a bad actress, but i think she's awesome.

That's so weird, i don't like Malin much either...there's something so off-putting about her to me.

Taissa is fantastic. Only Emma Hack Roberts fans say that because they have absolutely no clue about what good acting is. I mean look at the hack they worship 

reply

I don't care about either of them. Is there something wrong with me?

reply

Yeah, just how was Taissa, she seems very shy !
