Taissa and Malin look NOTHING alike.

I disagree. They look similar enough. What irked me initially was thinking they are too close in age to be mother and daughter. They look like they're only 10 years apart. Alas, I looked at their ages and it is indeed possible. Malin looks fantastic

So maybe she looks like the father? it happens. Heck sometimes it skips a generation and the kid looks like the grand mother.

Adam Driver doesn't look anything like Harrison Ford either, but yet he play as his son in Star Wars The Force Awakens.

Mother-daughter casting in Hollywood movies is always ridiculous because it's less important that they LOOK alike then that they're both really "hot". Actual teenage actresses usually aren't "hot" enough, so they cast 20-25 year olds, and actual middle-age women aren't necessarily "hot", so they won't use one much older than 35 (or at least one that LOOKS like she's older than 35). Of course, it's possible for mothers and daughters to be only 15 years apart in age, but Hollywood movies are also generally set in middle-class suburbia, not in a Appalachian trailer park.

At least, casting a woman Malin's age makes sense here since she also has to convincingly play a younger character. But they obviously weren't worried much about family resemblance.

They absolutely look nothing alike and it was extremely annoying. No reason to make excuses for the glaring problem. They just wanted to cast who they wanted.

Maybe she looks like her dad look at Janet Lee and Jamie Lee Curtis, JLC doesn't look like either parent or Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, CF looks like her dad and none of her mom.
