Home Alone in the Hood
The parallels between this and Home Alone are amazing. SPOILERS.
A young kid finds his home life to be unsatisfying. He wishes that his mom would go away because he wants to "run things his way" and be the man of the house. Eventually his wish comes true and he is left to fend for himself with all the amazing liberation and hardships that come with. Shopping for food, personal hygiene; just trying to live a normal life. Sticky Bandits and Ghetto Bandits? You got em.
Notice the parallels between the scary old man in Home Alone versus the cop who threatens to take Mister away. Eventually through some circumstance the cop saves our troubled child just as the snow plowing old man did in Home Alone. Mister is finally confronted with his largest fear only to find "it's not so bad" as Kevin M would say.
Finally the mother, who has traveled her own journey of torment, returns to say "I'm sorry".
