What an Unpleasant Movie!

Which is not to say that it's bad, necessarily, although it bothered me a bit that there was practically no story whatsoever. Of course, who would want to see this portrait of appalling nihilism plugged into a formula plot about saving the town's orphanage? I think the film is unflinching and scathing for what it portrays. I'll give it that. If I had sympathies at all, they lay with the eye behind the camera, not with the people in front of it. Someone below called it "beautiful." If you think that, you need help. I'd call it "nauseating", which is not generally the experience I'm looking to get out of a movie, but all the same it's a "nauseating" movie that sets out to nauseate. God help us.

I think the thing that will stay with me the most was that slideshow, the way they just all sad there when the porn came up. That was just about the most depressing, most pathetic, thing ever.

yeah that would be me, and thank you for notifying me! for i have contacted the local authorities and notified them that i am of unsound mental status and must get immediate help and be sent for re-education of where beauty lies which must be in line with what society and history tells me is beautiful. that i have the capacity to find beauty in ugliness and destruction i must have my head examined and rearranged for proper appreciation of beauty - idyllic, pleasant, peaceful - like a rose in the sun! ahhhhhhhh.

god need not help all of us, just people like you.

If other people like this movie, well good for them.

Personally I found it both vacuous and at times disturbing. I made it through the opening scene despite my gut instincts telling me I'd picked a wrong'un. After I suffered a further 30 minutes, I regretted not listening to my gut and I turned it off.

This film is amazing. I've watched it three times now. If you think it's unpleasant, then I recommend watching something like "What to Expect When You're Expecting."

I wish more films were as memorable. Movies should make you feel something. They don't all need to be pre-chewed for conservative minds.

I prefer the company of people who like this movie, not hipsters and soccer moms who rely on others to tell them what they should like.

You know what is unpleasant? Hitler. That gaywad killed 6 million Jews.
