We were disappoined by the end... looked like the movie suddenly jumped on the Zombie movie band wagon and hired a group of extras from The Walking Dead... are we suppose to think it's been Zombies all along doing whatever paranormal thing happening... or did we really miss something??

No, its not zombies. Its an entire league of women possessed by the demon Toby.
I do agree the scene is kind of abrupt. But I think this scene is meant to show how 'far reaching' the demon's plan is. Like a takeover.
As there seem to be dozens of possessed women there.

oooohhhhh... we totally did not get that... thank you for clarifying... that makes it better, we were not even going to watch anymore of them because thought they were turning it into a zombie flick... and we LOVE The Walking Dead, but did not want this movie to go that way.

It is not zombies, nor is a league of women possessed by Toby. It is a coven of witches who have made a deal with this demon, Toby. It explains in the 2nd movie that people can make deals with demons for wealth and power, in exchange for the first male born in their bloodline. In the 3rd, it is shown that Katie and Kristy's grandmother is a witch who is assumed to have made this deal, and she is a part of a coven. These women are not possessed by Toby, they are willingly working with him for means of their own greed.

In PA2, Aly read about the deal with the demon. The coven gets wealth/power/whatever in exchange for the soul of the firstborn male. PA3 shows that some preliminary ritual takes place, where the girls act out a 'wedding' to the demon. Then PA4 says that the demon doesn't want the soul, but wants the child's body to inhabit.
The producers are just making up the script as they go along. Instead of maintaining some kind of continuity, they just mash it all together and hope that the filmgoers will be too stupid to catch on.
Its a coven of witches possessed by Toby. Its quite clear that they are possessed at the end of Part 4.

I don't understand why they would need to be possessed. The coven summoned him/it in the first place to get what they wanted, and in return the demon gets the kid. Anyone who tried to interfere was eliminated by the demon. It took out Micah, Kristi, Dennis, the parents of Alex in PA4, the teen guy Ben.
All the witches seemed to accomplish is get a fire going for a backyard barbecue, and carry out the sacrifice portion of the ritual which will bind the demon to Hunter's body. The coven was a bunch of mean bitches who really had nothing to do.

It is the stuff of nightmares. A coven of black witches is after Alex. They are trying to kill her, and how the screen cuts to black, it looks like they succeeded. Reminds me of any movie or story with an evil witch. No, i am not talking about The Wizard of Oz. I am talking evil, devil worshipping witches who will cook babies, and anyone else, and consume them. Poor Alex! She was probably boiled in a cauldron and ended up on the old, wicked hags' dinnerplates.
