Budget?

Any idea on what the budget was for this?

Considering that it was originally a Legendary Films and Universal production that was set to be released in theaters for summer 2016, I'd guesstimate it had a production budget of between $50-$70 million. The big variable is that I don't know the extent of savings they achieved by filming primarily in Hungary.

Thanks for the input. I created a list that deals with expensive movies that never received a wide theatrical release and so I'm always on the lookout for new titles to add to it.

Well if that's the case, they did a good job stretching it considering what Hollywood blows through for far less results.

I was gonna mention similar with regard to the savings by filming in Hungary

I'd guess it was 30-40 million but perhaps high as you estimated

If they got rid of the spirits and just had a battle with the upgraded weapons at the factory this would have been a good Call of Duty movie. I'd like to see a cgi break down or behind the scenes featurette. The story isn't ground breaking. But it is fun and works.

I don't know but one of the reviewers mentioned that this was originally going to be released by universal with a budget of 70 million, and then it was dropped and picked up by netflix. With the cast not seemingly costing a lot(compared to your typical top billed movies with effects like these) I'd say 70 million seems about a right amount for such an exemplary score, special effects, and set, actually I'd say they got a bargain for that price.
