Okay so I realize its like 100% bs being able to build not one gun but a whole platoon's worth of special energy weapons out of basically nothing, and the movie would have been way more realistic if they could only cobble together a couple ghetto rigged weapons. That being said when they dropped in and set up that big ass gun and he clips on his mask that was pretty freakin awesome, if only for the visuals. Overall I enjoyed the movie, even if it was a bit farfetched at times.

Yeah I'd call it an "intelligent action movie" in that they stretched the science to further the action, but they made pretty solid effort in making the science seem plausible. Definitely not perfect, as you pointed out.
