This is crazy...

I'm watching it now.. but this mirrors so far the exact same idea I had for a movie when I was in high school .. and I graduated HS in 1996.. It was literally the idea that another race of life forms existed on our planet but we couldn't see them.. and it also had our government creating a set of goggles as part of our defense against foreign threats, but when we deployed them we were also suddenly able to see these creatures and then they could see us.

So far that's what this seems to be doing exactly... I'm not at all claiming they some how got my idea, it's just crazy that it parallels my idea so closely.. I only told one person about my idea ( one of many I had ) .. but he's too stupid to do anything with it :) and he still lives near by so I know he didn't, unless he told someone else.. but if he did I would have imagined something would have been done with it sooner..

It's just crazy seeing an idea I had years ago so closely being replicated.

I kinda believe someone in this massive race on Earth will come up with idea eventually,considering how our minds work, and some great ideas I had I sent out somewhere there hoping for someone with ability to make it picks it up. Because, if ideas exist, they gotta have a world and rules of their own. You never know what's out there of our perceptive world...

I also had that exact same idea (mine was a dream though) when I was in high school. Same year too! If you don't mind, where did you graduate from? (Assuming you graduated).

This is hardly the first film to use the premise either though. The closest example I can think of is Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. That film is very similar with semi-invisible/tranlucent creatures that can kill you with a touch, phase through stuff, and unaffected by conventional weapons. They are also fought against by science and military individuals.

There's also The Darkest Hour about an alien race that can't be seen until a character makes a weapon that allows them to be seen and attacked.

I'm sure there are some others out there too. Though with these to your HS idea would predate both as FF came out in 2001 and Darkest hour in 2011.
