Scene choices- mild spoiler

The movie obviously has a lot of downer moments….which is why I thought it was a little strange not to show one of the last “good moments” in its entirety.

I really thought they would show some of the match where Kerry actually wins the world title and the aftermath with the whole family celebrating in the ring in front of 30 or 40k.…honoring David, etc….

With what was to come, I just thought it a weird call to mostly skip over the match and go straight to them back home with the belt.

I had gone to the bathroom because I didn’t want to see David’s funeral, and I really had to go because I’d snuck something in ;). But I came back in and Kerry was already back home with the belt, I was like dang I missed the whole Texas Stadium match? That is kinda sad that they skipped that moment of celebration. That was a chapter of wrestling history right there.

They showed the start of Kerry’s ring walk to the roar of the crowd….and then it showed a vague “ghost David” watching it on TV back at the house, while the broadcast call said “and the new champion” and it faded to black…and then Kevin and Kerry were at the kitchen table with the belt.

As, I said…I just thought as part of the story telling they’d want to show more of this one big happy moment where the family got everything they thought they wanted…before things started rolling downhill.

I'm sure it was a budgetary issue. This is a small independent film.

But I agree that I would've liked to have seen it. The film definitely needed some more fun moments in the back half. Once it turns dark it just stays there without letting up.
