My V/H/S review
Despite all the negative reviews this film received, I liked V/H/S. Was the movie great? Well...no, absolutely not. It was littered with flaws and downsides. But there were still certain aspects to it that I enjoyed. I liked how it was an experimental anthology film that took a chance with the found footage genre. It tried something different. Even if it wasn't a great success, I still give it credit for trying.
The first segment Tape 56 pretty much did nothing for me. It added nothing to the overall film. It was boring, and in my opinion, was mostly just used as filler. I could've done without it. But I guess it was supposed to be a vital part of the story. But still...ehhh.
The second segment Amateur Night was easily my favorite, and I actually think it's the best in the entire film.
The third segment Second Honeymoon was pointless, boring, unsatisfying, and extremely dull. Very forgettable.
The fourth segment Tuesday the 17th was equally as pointless and forgettable as Second Honeymoon. Actually, maybe it was a bit worse. Annoying characters. Nothing made sense. Just terrible.
The fifth segment, The Sick Thing That Happened to Emily When She was Younger, pretty much went nowhere. It wasn't as bad as the third and fourth segments. But still, it wasn't great by any means. Emily was really hot though. So that was an upside. lol
10/31/98, the sixth segment, was my second favorite.
So really, the second and sixth segments were really the only memorable ones. All the rest were forgettable. But those two segments alone is what made me like the film. Without those segments...this film would be unwatchable.
