Ok.....WTF?? I've seen this movie a dozen times, it's always on cable....and STILL don't understand this one.

Yeah I get they are chatting and he's really in the next room....but what's it about?

The arm thing? The ending.......

When he's goes to her and cuts something out of her?? And the other girl in the room?

Can someone....anyone...take 3 minutes and explain this to me??

I've come to the conclusion I'll never get it on my own.

The Sick Thing That Happened To Emily When She Was Younger:

The story was about aliens, not ghosts. They implanted a tracking device into Emily's arm and had James act as her boyfriend to keep tabs on her. They used her as an incubator for alien/human hybrids. When the time came for the hybrid to be removed, the aliens incapacitated Emily and James removed the fetus from her back.

To cover up what happened, he broke her arm and beat her up a bit. James then sent her to a doctor that was also working with the aliens. The doctor convinced Emily that she had schizophrenia, hallucinated the "ghosts", and got her injuries from walking into the street and getting hit by a car.

From the dialogue it was revealed that this wasn't the first time this happened to Emily, and it wouldn't be the last. The cycle will be repeated. And the last scene showed that Emily isn't the only woman being used by the aliens.

I didn't get all of that until the second or third time I saw it, either. I feel a lot better that I'm not alone, lol.

I know this question is a year and a half old, but I just watched the movie, so...

The bump in her arm is a tracking device. He cuts what looks like a fetus out of Emily, and his conversation with the two "girls" as he's doing it makes it sound like they're aliens or something. But then why do they need a human to grow their babies for them? And why does his conversation with the creatures make it sound like he cares about Emily but then is doing the exact same thing to another girl? Is he an alien as well? A lot of problems with this story.
