Tuesday the 17th--underrated
I re-watched this for the first time in a few years now, and I actually thought "Tuesday the 17th" was weirdly creepier than I remembered it being.
The dialogue was admittedly atrocious at times (for example, the guy screaming "look at your eye!" to a girl who's just had a knife plunged through her skull) and it had a very "Friday the 13th" sequel vibe, which may be why the dialogue was bad if they intended it that way, but it was conceptually just really weird and atmospheric. The idea of some un-photographable killer lurking in the forest is spooky, and the lack of explanation made it even more spooky. The forest they shot in was desolate and really foreboding—the fact that it was not even nice outside and their friend had asked them to go out on this hike, nobody really knowing why they were at this specific location, etc.
Did anyone else think this segment was a bit underrated? I didn't think so so much the first time I saw it back 2012, but now reevaluating it, I really enjoyed this segment a lot more just because it had such a weird and unsettling vibe about it, paired with a spunky "Friday the 13th" element. Strange, but effective. I remember when this movie came out that this segment in particular really got railed on, but in retrospect I kind of like it.
