The main problem I had with it

The WRONG Allman Brother? There is a wrong Allman Brother? Duane Allman was ranked #9 by Rolling Stone on the all time guitarist list. You can debate those rankings all you want but he is widely regarded as one of the best. I'm not sure I would call him the 'wrong' Allman Brother. Not sure that there is one.

Then you are gonna love this. Your main problem to have with this movie is the wrong one.

reply

No, it's the right one.

This movie has plenty of problems. That they make fun of the Allman brothers isn't a problem. Your not being able tell it was a joke might be a personal problem though.

reply

The fact that you couldn't tell that the original post was a joke is probably something on which you should work.

reply

So your joke was as bad as the jokes in the movie on purpose. Got it.

reply

... and almost as poor as yours.

I agree with you Rodney. The only reason why I think they said Duane was the wrong one, is that Greg was the "cute" one, but he wasn't really that cute-though he got Cher's attention. The whole Allman Bros. conversation in that movie was pretty pointless and they should have just left it out. I was a little offended that they said Duane was the "wrong one." He was the one that had the most respect musically.

That stuck out at me also. Duane Allman is hugely respected as a guitar player, Eric Clapton hit it off with him famously when they worked on the Derek and the Dominos record together. To me, Duane is the most famous of the Allmans, and the most well respected as a musician.

I could see the girls being more well acquainted with Greg since he was married to Cher, and he was the lead singer for the Allman Brothers. Singers tend to draw the most attention in bands. For Sarandon's character to date Duane Allman though, I would consider that huge, and not the "wrong Allman brother" at all.

By the way, Duane Allman died in a motorcycle accident in 1971. A lot of the time people who die young have more valuable autographs, because they weren't around long enough to sign a lot of them. I wonder if that applies to dating, also? Would dating Duane be considered more impressive because he wasn't around as long as Greg?
