Really, really bad

Wow. We knew from the commercials this wasn't going to be a "good" movie, but we like a lot of the talent involved and figured at least there'd be some dumb laughs to be had.

We figured wrong.

Listen, I'm a fan of McCarthy's going back to Gilmore Girls - she's talented and I'm happy to see her success... BUT... This crude, sloppy, foul-mouthed "look at me! I'm a funny fat lady" shtick has worn beyond thin. If this keeps up, her film career is going to die a well-deserved death.

A seriously unfunny film, poorly written, poorly directed and poorly acted... It can't even manage funny accidentally. This makes the mediocre Identity Thief look like a cinematic masterpiece.

Skip it.

Maybe you should skip Melissa McCarthy films in the future. She's obviously letting you down.

I totally agree with everything you said.

Yes; quite possibly one of the worst of this decade. From the moment she got down in the street to comfort the stunned deer, it was awful. Sarandon, Janney, and McCarthy as three generations was thoroughly implausible. The movie just kept getting worse. I don't think I can write about this any more: I need to forget.
