Lenore's 'Get over yourself speech'

Does anyone have a copy, or know where one might be located somewhere on the internet of Lenore's lecture to Tammy? I really loved it and would like to share it at my job - I work at a Treatment Center. It'd be even better if I could find a video copy, with Kathy Bates actually doing the talking, but I would be happy with just a written copy too.

If you know, the help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

P.S. I really liked the movie, sorry so many people seem to have not enjoyed it. :-/

Are you going to dip it in yogourt? Cover it with chocolate buttons?

reply

The only line I remember is "Gay hadn't always been in fashion ya know." I suggest you say this to your treatment center patients.

reply

you could check youtube or just copy the speech down yourself- play it and pause while you write down the lines. get it on dvd or dvr it off your tv or see if you can record it on vhs if that still exists.

That was my favorite scene, and more or less saved the movie for me. Gotta love Kathy Bates--she elevates anything she's in.

I think more goofy over-the-top movies would benefit from a similar speech, just to cut the "zany hijinks" for a moment. Wouldn't it be great if someone told the Hangover guys they're too old to be frat boys on spring break?

reply

why would you want a copy of it? it was completely off the mark and cruel to tammy.

yeah, people need to get over themselves in real life but they shouldn't be verbally abused in public by anyone -- drunk or not. Lenore should have been on tammy's side when that happened, instead she played the gay card.

wah wah wah my life is hard I am gay

meanwhile that house is massive!

Reading the paper can really be depressing. Mr. Dithers fired Dagwood again.

reply

Uh--what? Lenore was right to set Tammy straight, because Tammy had shown throughout the film that she never thinks before she does a damn thing, which is why she keeps getting herself in trouble all the time. Someone needed to sit her the hell down, tell her to grow the hell up and get her s*** together, because she acted like an immature idiot and a damn fool half the time. And she never seemed to take responsibility for her actions, unless forced to. So she needed that speech,big-time.

reply

Agreed, that speech felt really out of place. I don't think she really knew Tammy well enough to make that judgement on her character. The fact is she had just been verbally insulted and humiliated in front of a ton of people, all because she was trying to stop her alcoholic grandmother from making a fool of herself. She should have told her to bugger off with her pious lesbian sob story rhetoric.

I was never one to hold grudges. My father held grudges, I'll always hate him for that
