Entertaining, ok ... but funny? Not so much. (spoilers maybe)

I didn't laugh once during the whole movie even though I was interested enough to see it through to the end. At the beginning when she was fired I felt sorry for Tammy that being gross was the only thing she knew to fall back on. The film did have some heart which is what really carried me through. Toni Collette and Alison Janney were wasted, those scenes during the end credits were typical clips for this type of movie and that deer was some of the worst CGI I've ever seen - although I was glad it wasn't dead.

Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps ...

Just saw the film, and I liked it because, like you said, it actually has some genuine heart in it, plus I even laughed a couple of times. I was gold it wasn't the gross-out comedy I expected, and that it was instead a pretty good road trip film about a dysfunctional grandmother and her equally dysfunctional grandaughter who end up having to come to terms with who they really are and what they were going to do with the rest of their lives and issues. It's must closer to a drama, but some parts are still laugh-out loud. I would up liking the film and wondering why it barely got any promotion whatsoever, despite McCarthy's presence. I really ended up liking it.

"but some parts are still laugh-out loud" which parts might that be?
