Which movie do you prefer this remake or the 1980 original Maniac movie? I haven't seen this remake yet I've only seen the original so I can't really say which one I like better.

shareThe original is the best one....the remake would have been great if not for one thing - Elijah Wood...he was a poor choice to play the maniac....he's short in stature, little and not scary looking at all.....how could anybody consider FRODO from Lord of the Rings, a SCARY person?....he's totally unconvincing in the movie...they should have chosen someone who looked similar to Joe Spinell...kinda big and fat with a sinister looking face...someone who LOOKS like a killer, not this wimpy FRODO kid......otherwise i thought the story was really good....

shareTough call--this is the rare case where the remake is just as good as the original, in my opinion, and I am someone who is usually against remakes. Elijah Wood was quite good and the soundtrack is awesome. Interesting camera work, too. Really good makeup effects. Not a movie I'm likely ever going to watch again--hell, I can't even watch the original again. Very disturbing stuff. But still, great movie.
