Sci-fi?? really?!
this is clearly a fantasy movie, it has nothing to do with Sci-fi.
PS: the movie is so great tho, besides the soundtracks are amazing <3.

absolutely. i just submitted the correction from scifi to fantasy...
shareI honestly think imdb cultivates this kind of nonsense. I think a lot of people see it as some kind of move to democracy ...
If I watch Sci-Fi movies & "Sci-Fi" = "Science Fiction" & I understand these Sci-Fi movies then I am practically a scientist, so these real scientists have nothing on me. So there. Who cares that I flunked science in high-school?
Which they apparently ignored. I'll submit mine, with an explanation plus my credentials in case that matters, and we'll see what happens.
I did succeed in getting that change made for two other films, Fetching Cody and Interstate 60, and getting sci-fi simply removed from I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK. So there may be hope. I think some of it has to do with luck, in terms of which editor sees your submission.

Well, I have had, um, "debates" with a few people on imdb about sci-fi vs fantasy vs Science Fiction. (Though it hard to legitimize something as a "debate" when the other side has no clue what they are talking about.) 3 simple points:
1. Many people, a majority perhaps, on imdb have no more clue on this topic than on a whole host of other topics.
2. If you "debate" it, they'll just parrot nonsense & then point to imdb's "official" category to "prove" their point.
3. In the world today, if a majority of people in some subset of society (or society as a whole) think something is true ... THEN ... IT IS TRUE. For most of today's society, there are no facts anymore, there is no absolute truth anymore. (There is no "Science" for that matter, since Science depends on knowing and accepting the truth.) Today's truth is whatever a bunch of uneducated people rule it to be on the internet or in the main-stream-media.

Agreed. The two seem to get lumped in together a lot, I think because many films are a mix of sci-fi and fantasy, but it's really not correct when only elements of one are present. Had the show attempted some scientific explanation for their connection, it could fit into the sci-fi category, but in the absence of that, it's straight-up fantasy.
"This is a problem that requires two minds with but a single malt."
Telepathy is a standard sci-fi trope, so I think that's the lazy rationale for the classification. But it's also a fantasy trope, and as others in this thread have noted, no attempt is made to explain the telepathy scientifically, and no one takes a scientific interest in it. So, yeah, it's a fantasy.
