"Chocolate" by Mick Garris, except in that one, the communication is one-sided.

Well considering this was written in 1992 - it's hardly a rip off

It was a rip-off of MESSAGE from CHARITY 1985, Twilight Zone

(Based on the short story "A Message from Charity", by William M. Lee. The story was first published in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction (November 1967))
