I feel like this movie ended this so many question it deserves a sequel!! Like now what happens with Dylan violating is po and Rebecca escaping the mental institution these actions have consequences yu can't go to Canada with out a passport and a man and woman in the run don't make the cut. Now that they found each other they should all the trials it's going to take for them to stay together. How they fend off Phillip where do they end up. It could have been an extra fifteen minute at the end to explain but personally I think it could be put into a whole new movie. Between jail/mental hospital. Crazy ex husband. Crazy guys trying to force him into a criminal job plus I'm sure there's factors you could add into it like she ends up pregnant by Philip or Phillip really goes psycho and tries to kidnap her. Uses his connections to stop divorce. Claim unstable and have her committed with out any hope of getting out. There are just so many loose ends in need of tying and maybe that's what the writers wanted us to feel but these are such big issues I feel like it was set up for a sequel. And I'm sure with joss whedon as the writer he could come up with twist and turns and mind boggling triumphs that could make the sequel just as good as the first. Honestly even with loose ends this is probably my new all time favorite love story. It is right up there with the notebook or a walk to remember. Exception being it was left room so such a great sequel!!! I personally only go to the theaters for something I absolutely know is gunna be good so once every couple of years. And I would go to the theaters to see a sequel. Judging by other reviews I've seen I doubt I'm the only one

The sequel: They try to go to Canada, but are stopped at the border. Officials check his ID, and find that he's wanted by the police. He goes to prison. She ends up in a halfway house. They spend a few months talking, then he gets shanked and it kills them both.

It's the only probable future these two have. They had their big happy Hollywood ending moment, and now life is going to kick them in the teeth.

With all due respect - you're not Joss Whedon. I'm sure he could write a better version of this. No offense to your version - it is realistic. But movies shouldn't always be realistic.

So I think there is a way out for them - at least in movieland.

Great movie, but I'm 99% sure it WON'T be getting a sequel. Honestly, I would secretly like to see one, but to be honest, the way the movie ended I don't think there is a need for one. Dylan already said that he wants to escape to Canada with Rebecca. It's pretty obvious the two are in love and will be together forever no matter what kind of problems they run into, legal or otherwise. Adding more drama to the story would just take away from something already great. The thing with films like this, the viewer can continue the story in their head. 😉

I read this was a story wrote by Weadon almost 20+ years ago or something, it went through multiple rewrites and it didn't go into actual filming until 2012. Nice to see this guy is a brilliant writer besides just doing "The Avengers" (which I also love those films though). But yea, considering the timeframe, ending, and everything, I don't think Weadon will be writing a sequel. Not unless this film unexpectedly made him extremely rich off of Netflix streaming... the only similar movie I can think of is "Cruel Intentions", a movie that was suppose to be a one-hit story but people loved it and they made spin offs, albeit it none of them were as good as the original they still happened. But that wasn't an indie film.

Um... Do you know anything about Joss Whedon?

I'm happy it ended where it did. We got the happy ending. As far as I'm concerned, thats where the story ends.

Yes, I'm surprised no one was impaled by a spear at the end of this movie. This is the happiest ending Whedon has ever written.

This is exactly the reason I think he could write a great sequel to this and there are other alternatives in this story than the ones already listed.

i totally agree, i think a sequel would be perfect for all tha youve mentioned not to mention seeing how a relationship would go between two people who can read eachothers minds... that could either be a good thing or a really, really bad thing. and it could also maybe show a back story of show they got connected in the first place and why?

We all love great movies that, no matter how many times we watch them, we just can't get enough of them. A movie can be truly great yet leave you with no desire to watch it again and this movie is one of them. I do really recommend you to watch it once, and only once. Not because the movie is bad but simply because it captured beautifully, made you smile along the way and let whatever messages or feelings we garnered from that first time mark our final opinion.
God, I love indie, simple movie like like this, beautiful scores, locations, actors. Let's hope there will be a sequel cuz this was a film that really had a kick in the very end.

Films like this don't need a sequel, the gimmick is already known. They have some kinda connection, people will think they're crazy if they're apart so they'll try as hard as they can to stay together.

Unless you can come up with a new gimmick like if they have a kid, will it have a connection to them both? That be pretty weird but kinda the same deal.

Wait, I got it: a television sitcom--let's totally ruin the memory of this story! No ongoing saga of the spouse you can't get out of your brain. "Aw honey, you weren't supposed to see *that*!" <cue laugh track>
