I realize that for this film to be as bad as The Tree of Life is virtually impossible but I did kind of like To the Wonder. Really. what I want to know is whether it is actually a film instead of the over indulgent piece of pretentious trash that TTOF was.
shareTREE OF LIFE is actually the first Malick film I ever really liked, though I can't deny that BADLANDS and DAYS OF HEAVEN each have their own style that makes them worth watching at least once. Not a fan of THE NEW WORLD, which was bad history, but don't mind THE THIN RED LINE. Still waiting to see TO THE WONDER and KNIGHT OF CUPS.
I prefer more plot-driven stories and more humor, and more action when appropriate (I don't ask all filmmakers to be like Howard Hawks or Alfred Hitchcock or a John Ford western).
Your reaction to Tree of Life will most likely be similar to the one you have to this one.
